The music portrays NASA’s project Apollo to land on the Moon and return safely to Earth in the 1960s.

Being a young boy in the 60s I have always been fascinated by this momentous achievement. The music combines composition and jazz improvisation where the soloists are given enough time to explore the harmonic landscape and make a meaningful contribution to the music.

Musically I have combined many styles and elements to create a diverse and cinematic experience.

Contemporary jazz, latin fusion, funk, progressive rock, orchestrations and synthesised textures all come together to take the listener on an incredible journey.

With the impending 50th anniversary of the Moon landing on July 20th 2019 I have sync’d two tracks to edited NASA Apollo footage to add a visual and historic dimension to the music. The Launch and the Eagle have been published to view on YouTube.

Some great feedback below from legendary arranger & composer Paul Buckmaster (Elton John, David Bowie, Miles Davis, 12 Monkeys) sent to me just a few months before he sadly and unexpectedly passed in November 2017. Paul had been listening to my music for several months as it progressed and was very encouraging and enthusiastic about it.

Hi Michael, Fabulous; truly wonderful; thanks. Best, Paul Buckmaster (www.buckmastersound.com)

On hearing Earthrise for the first time renowned producer, film composer and keyboard player David Hentschel described my music as “Innovative but very listenable!” We went on to work together extensively moving toward the finished album, a very enjoyable experience.

Over a 50 year career David has produced Genesis, The Yellowjackets (Grammy for best jazz fusion performance 1988), Mike Oldfield, Andy Summers, Van der Graaf Generator / Peter Hammill, Renaissance, Ringo Starr, George Harrison et al. He engineered and played keyboards for Elton John including a Grammy nomination for engineering the “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” album in 1973
